Steven Spielberg’s ET the Extra-Terrestrial debuted in theaters back in June of 1982. That means one of the most popular sci-fi movies of all time is celebrating its 40th birthday this year, and Funko is ready with a wave of pop characters as part of their mega event Funk Halloween 2022.

Given that Funk Halloween focuses on crossing the Halloween midpoint of the year, it’s only fitting that the ET Funko Pop wave tops the Halloween scenes from the movie. This includes a Pop Moment of ET, an Elliot fly (glow in the dark), and a Pop figure from Elliot with an ET in a bike basket. The rest of the popular characters in the Funko Pop lineup include ET’s 40th Anniversary, ET in disguise, ET with flowers, ET in a robe holding a phone, Elliot, and Gertie. Needless to say, ET is a fan-favorite movie and has inspired countless directors and actors. For example, Colin Farrel recently revealed his love for the movie in an episode of Hot Ones:

“What I thought was cool at first when I saw it was ET, and the excitement of that creature coming from a plane away, and I still find that pretty cool today,” Farrell explained. “But what I find most fascinating about him now is what a story about broken families is about. Like Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, Steven Spielberg has made some of the most entertaining films in history, as far as cinema is concerned. But even when it’s entertaining, in In essence, there’s some kind of emotional and psychological break going on. The family in ET is in trouble. The children are wandering in the woods, the keys are knocking – the keys have been chasing me, every time I heard the keys bang as a child. And the magic. When they first took off in that woods and began to Flying… I got goosebumps. I got tears on the couch this Christmas, but that’s me. [thinking about] I am sure of my death and my things. You know, nostalgia and gloom. But you know. So many reasons why it’s a great movie.”

Of course, you might be wondering whether or not the 1988 ET-inspired Mac and Me movie will get a wave of Funko Pops on its 35th anniversary next year. We might say the odds are slim, but we never underestimate the power of Paul Rudd.
